Hebrides 4 Hearts And Minds - Daily Update

Mike Lewus, our Technical Advisor, is to cycle the entire length of the Outer Hebrides island string from Port of Ness to Vatersay and back again, a total of 350 miles for charity.

Day 5: Saturday 20th April - Leverburgh/Berneray to Polochar (N. Uist, Benbecula, S. Uist)

Just at the Sound of Harris. Got to cycle 55 miles today to get to the Polochar Inn. 120 miles cycled, 230 miles to go!


Covered the length of North Uist, Benbecula and South Uist. I was absolutely exhausted but a couple of pints at the Polochar Inn put me right.


Day 4: Friday 19th April - Scaladale Outdoor Center to Leverburgh (Harris)

Day 3 Thursday 18th April - Breascleit (Lewis) to Scaladale Outdoor Center (Harris)

Passed the 5000 year old Calanais Standing Stones earlier today and now nearly at the road that goes as far south as south can go...!

Day 0 Monday April 15th - ‘Travelling to Ullapool’
First ferry crossing from Portavadie to Tarbert across Loch Fyne was pretty rough. Let's hope the weather is kinder when I actually start... That crossing was followed by a 7 hour drive to Ullapool.

The two charities he's cycling for are BHF (British Heart Foundation) and SANE (mental health charity).







Mike's Cycle Route

Mike plans to cycle during 16th to 25th April 2019, with 26th and 27th April left spare for contingencies. The route will pass through:

and all the way back to Stornoway
