EU Referendum, What Next for Business

05 Jul 2016

The “Leave” result at the recent EU Referendum means we now face an extended period of political and economic uncertainty. The priority for the Government is to reassure the markets and provide strong and calm leadership – extremely difficult in what is still a confused and volatile environment. They have recently stressed the fundamental strength of the UK economy, the high levels of employment and strong growth compared to other major economies and, over time, they will move to shape the agenda of the negotiations for the UK’s new place in the world. Initial comment is that we may experience slower growth, increased inflation and a weaker currency, with investment decisions likely to be delayed.

Paul Barker, Managing Director of the BSSA will attend a meeting at the CBI on July 15th entitled “What Next For Business” and will report back directly to members as the situation unfolds.
