CPD Training
The modules are designed to assist architects in the design and specification of stainless steel. There is a choice of nine modules:
Seminar 1
Stainless Steel for Architects
A general introduction to stainless steel for architects, including grades, standards and surface finishes, including the properties of stainless steel, EN 10088 specifications, modern surface finishes, environmental benefits and where to obtain further advice.
Seminar 2
Designing Building Exteriors in Stainless Steel
Designed to help architects get the best out of stainless steel in the design of building exteriors, and to avoid practical problems that would give disappointing service/performance, including issues affecting material selection and long term maintenance.
Seminar 3
Specifying Stainless Steel for Architectural Applications
Provides architects with practical guidance on the specification of stainless steel, including material grade, surface finish and flatness criteria, and factors influencing the cost of different specifications.
Seminar 4
Optimising Design and Fabrication of Stainless Steel Components
Explains the basic principles of stainless steel fabrication, which are relevant to architectural design and identifies the key factors to be taken into account in designing cost and performance effective architectural features and components.

Seminar 5
Selecting and Specifying Stainless Steel Surface Finishes
Introduces the exciting range of modern stainless steel surface finishes available to the architect, and provides guidance on selection and specification, factors affecting service performance, and availability.
Seminar 6
Cleaning and Restoring Stainless Steels in Architectural Use
Provides architects with guidance on maintaining the visual performance of stainless steels in architectural use, including choice of grade and finish, erection, cleaning and restoration and where to go for specialist advice.
Seminar 7
The Structural Design of Stainless Steel
Provides architects and structural engineers with guidance on the structural use of stainless steel, including relevant material properties, design principles and design standards, and highlighting sources of further information.
Seminar 8
Stainless Steel in Swimming Pools
Provides architects and structural engineers with guidance on the use of stainless steels in swimming pool applications; outlines the principles of good design and material selection, and how to avoid pitfalls, such as stress corrosion cracking.
Seminar 9
Stainless Steel Reinforcement for Concrete Structures
An update for engineers and architects on current stainless steel rebar standards, material grades, size range, properties, and guidelines for the design of durable and cost effective reinforced concrete structures.
