  1. Chemical compositions of AISI (ASTM/ASME) and UNS austenitic stainless steel grades

    Most ASTM and ASME standards list the steel grades by their UNS (Unified Numbering system) numbers but also make reference, where appropriate to the more general AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) grade designations. These grade numbering systems are widely used in the USA, where they originated and are recognised by most stainless steel specifiers and users. In Japan the AISI grade number is preceded by SUS eg SUS 304.   8. Chemical compositions of stainless steels to BS 6323-8

    BS 6323 was the material standard for steel seamless and welded tubes for automobile, mechanical and general engineering purposes. Part 8 covered the requirements for longitudinally welded stainless steel tubes. This standard has been withdrawn and replaced by BSEN 10296-2 in December 2005. The chemical composition of stainless steel grades that were covered in BS 6323-8 included LW12 LW19 LW20 LW21 LW22 LW23 and LW24. These designations are related to the obsolete BS 1449-2 sheet grades 409S19 304S11 304S15 316S13 316S33 and 321S31 from which the welded tubes would have been made.

  9. Chemical compositions of stainless steels to BS EN 10217-7

    BS EN 10217-7 2014 is the European standard: Welded stainless steel tubes for pressure purposes- Technical delivery conditions. It contains austenitic and duplex stainless steels. There are no ferritic, martensitic or heat resisting steels.

  10. Chemical compositions of stainless steels to BS EN 10253-3 and 10253-4

    BS EN 10296-3 and 10253-4 are the material standards for austenitic and duplex stainless steels for butt-welding fittings without and with specific inspection requirements. They were published in December 2008.
