Surface Finishes on Stainless Steel (Sample Pack)

This pack contains samples of a wide range of finishes that can be applied to stainless steel, plus detailed explanations of these finishes. An order form for the pack can be downloaded below.

Acid Pickling, descaling, passivation, electropolishing and electroplating are described. Mechanical polishing, abrasive blasting and barrel and vibratory finishing are then described. Mill supply and special finishes for flat products to BSEN10088 part 2 are compared with the obsolete BS1449 standard. Some guidance on grit sizes used for ground and polished finishes is given and the resulting Ra surface roughness values obtained. Patterned and coloured finishes are also briefly described.
