STEM Exchange and Industrial Strategy
14 Apr 2015
semta is leading on a project to improve teaching at post 16 years of age and aimed to increase engagement between employers and FE/vocational provision.
The typical engineering tutor in a college or private training provider only receives on average 30 hours of CPD per year. semta has established The STEM Exchange which is a register whereby employers large or small can register to offer some form of CPD opportunity – anything from a factory visit to a secondment.
The development of the Industrial Strategy for the Metals Sector links directly into one of the aspirations within the report to improve vocational education and means that the employers within the metals sector could get involved now and start to make an impact.
