Santa Claus has revealed to the BSSA that he relies on stainless steel every Christmas eve.

“Although I mostly fly my sleigh, I still use it on land and rooftops. The runners are made of long strips of 316 mirror polished stainless steel, which is ideal for all kinds of geographical and weather conditions. Don’t forget that I travel around the world in one night!

The runners sit on the bottom of either side of my sleigh and are the only part that comes into contact with the ground. Each runner is mounted and can be bowed to decrease the total area that touches the ground or rooftop. This helps me to steer and make sure that I keep aligned with my reindeer.

Without my stainless steel runners children simply wouldn’t get their presents whether they had been naughty or not!”
